The history of Municipality of Velo-Vocha
The Municipality of Velo-Vocha set up by the "New Architecture of Self-governing Entities and Deconcentrated Administration – Kallikratis programme" and it was created by the former municipalities of Velo and Vocha. The municipal seat is in Zevgolatio.
It is located in the center of Korinthia Region. The northern areas of the municipality are coastal, bordering the Gulf of Corinth. The beaches in Neratza, Kokkoni and Vrachati are fully organized and blue-flag awarded by the European Union. The main characteristic of this municipality is the agricultural part, with local products. The most common are sultanas, wine grape varieties, apricots, olives and floriculture.
Important religious sights of the municipality is the monastery of Zoodochos Pigi in Foka, the Byzantine church of Agios Nikolaos in Evangelistria and the Trinity Church in Zevgolatio.
