The verdant forest “Pefkias” is a green paradise in the city of Xylokastro, on the coastline of the Corinthian Gulf and is 200 years old. This aesthetic forest put a spell on a lot of great personalities, such as the great poet Aggelos Sikelianos, who has built his summerhouse nearby, the poet Kostas Kariotakis, who wanted to live his last moments there and inspired to write some of his poems. It is a tourism destination for locals and tourists.
Inside the forest are some cafés, where visitors enjoy the refreshing breeze and the clear water. At the same time, people walking, cycling and the lovers of nature follow the forest paths, enjoying the floral richness.
