Agios Vasilios

Overview

Excavations show that this area was inhabited in the prehistoric times. “Zygouries”, a hill on the west side of Agios Vasilios, which was excavated by the American archaeologist Blegen, was first inhabited at the Copper Age. Tillage and tree farming of the hill ruined one of the greatest prehistoric towns in Balkan. The rocks, that were found in the south areas of Agios Sostis and some other shells in the south western side of region “Chouni” or near some caves up to the mountain “Dafnia”, reveal that there was life in those caves since early prehistoric times.
