Acrocorinth

Overview

Acrocorinth is a natural sight, next to which a small settlement was established named Ephyra and then became the rich city of Corinth. It fortified exemplary and it became the most important fortification of the region since ancient times until today. Its fortification became magnificent between the 7th and 6th century B.C., when Kypselid dynasty came to Corinth at the time, when Corinth was flourishing. The castle of Acrocorinth was never trampled underfoot by the enemies. At an altitude of 574 m. it resisted to every enemy, who wanted to take it over. It is the biggest castle in Greece and one of the biggest in Europe.
